Real Madrid are in desperate need of a striker and they are ready to break the bank to get on.
The Spanish giants are not too keen on continuing with Karim Benzema up front and have made a move to sign another striker this month.

As per reports in the Daily Express, Real Madrid have activated the release clause of Mauro Icardi. The Argentine striker has also passed his medical at the club according to the report.
Icardi has a £99 million release clause in his current contract at Inter Milan and that is valid until July 2018. The Italian side are keen on getting him tied down with a new contract that would increase his wages and his release clause.
Real Madrid have held a private medical for Icardi according to the report in Daily Express. The Spanish side need to activate his £99 million release clause to do so, and it is believed that it is done.
Apart from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United were also linked with a move for Icardi. The Argentine was once linked with a move to Barcelona as well.
