Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Edin Dzeko after the Roma striker agreed a move to Stamford Bridge, according to reports in Italy.
The Premier League champions are looking to recruit a new forward who will provide competition for Alvaro Morata, who is without a goal in his last six appearances. According to Il Tempo, Chelsea have already agreed a €60 million (£53m) deal with Roma to sign Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri this month. The deal is broken down as a €50m (£44m) payment plus €10m (£9m) in bonuses but has been held up by Dzeko deciding whether to leave Roma.

Rreport claims that only ‘minor details’ have to be agreed between Dzeko and Chelsea but the former Manchester City forward has accepted a move to Stamford Bridge and is willing to live in London.

Palmieri, meanwhile, has already agreed to join Chelsea and will also be heading to the Premier League champions alongside Dzeko. The Brazilian full-back is wanted by Chelsea as competition for Marcos Alonso on Antonio Conte’s left flank.
The 23-year-old has barely featured for Roma this season due to a serious knee injury and would be available to play for Chelsea in the Champions League this season. Dzeko, however, has already featured in the competition and will not be able to feature. Il Tempo also report that Roma’s sporting director Monchi is already working on signing replacements for the two players.
