Jose Mourinho has confirmed he expects to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the coming days.
TheManchester United boss has been chasing Sanchez this month and the Chilean is believed to be on the verge of a big transfer to Old Trafford. Mourinho has made no secret of United’s pursuit of Sanchez and the Arsenal attacker is expected to complete his medical in the next 48 hours.

He said: ‘If you ask me if I think he is coming, I think so, but I have no confirmation.’ United have beaten City to the signature of Sanchez and Mourinho told Red Devil fans to expect the signing of the attacker to be announced soon. He said: ‘Expect soon or never. So close, so close, so close, if it doesn’t happen it is not going to happen. ‘The owners have given the green light, Mr Woodward working hard with Matt Judge. ‘I know my people doing absolutely everything they can. I think they will be successful.’ Sanchez will leave Arsenal to join a Premier League rival and end a four-year stay at the club. United are expected to fork out a significant amount of money on agent fees and signing on bonuses to secure Sanchez.
The deal to bring Sanchez to Old Trafford will now be independent of any move to send Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the opposite direction. Sanchez has already said his goodbyes to his Arsenal team-mates, who began life without their talisman with a 4-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace.
