Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez failed to report to training today after being denied a deadline day move to Manchester City.
The Algerian was desperate to move to the Etihad and handed in a transfer request in a bid to get a transfer to Pep Guardiola‘s side over the line. However, City pulled out of a deal when Leicester demanded upwards of £95m and the Algerian was pulled from the Foxes’ defeat against Everton.
ClaudePuel had hoped that Mahrez would recover from the disappointment of missing out on a move to the Etihad but the Algerian failed to show for training today, according to Sky Sports News.
Mahrez signed a long-term deal after the Foxes’ title-winning campaign in 2016 but he handed in a transfer request the following summer.
The likes of Monaco and Arsenal were interested in Mahrez but failed to firm up their interest with bids. City moved for Mahrez after Leroy Sane was ruled out for two months but it remains to be seen if they will return for the Algerian this summer.
